1. It is primarily used in cellulose-based and resin-based coatings and adhesives

2. It is also employed in rare-metal extraction

3. It is used in dewaxing to purify pharmaceuticals, mineral oils, fatty acids and alcohols

4. MIBK is also a useful intermediate to produce target molecules, rubber antiozonants and acetylenic diol compounds
